Our story

It started with a boat, a few traps, and a drawing.

The Checkered Lobster started with a few traps, a little old Whaler, and a whole lot of excitement. One summer we dropped a few traps into Scituate Harbor (south of Boston) and kept pulling up lobster after lobster. Those days on the water became some of our favorite - and the crustacean on the front of everything we make came out of a sketchbook at the kitchen table.

We only make pieces we actually want to wear. Our men's crew uses classic Comfort Colors fleece - durable, relaxed, and perfectly broken-in from day one. Our tees are garment-dyed so they fade the right way, and our rope caps are made to be worn wet, salted, and sat on.
